Kelingking Beach
The view everyone comes for: a narrow headland shaped like a T-rex, plunging into turquoise water above a white beach. The top platform is fenced and queued by mid-morning, so we either arrive early or shoot from the ridge path a little further down, which gives the same composition with fewer people. Morning light is cleaner on the cliff face; by late afternoon the headland goes into shadow but the sea stays bright. The descent to the sand is genuinely dangerous in sandals or after rain — we do not include it in a shoot.
- Best time
- Before 9:00, or after 16:00 when the day-trippers leave
- Permits
- Small parking and entry fee; the descent to the beach is a steep, partly railed path of about an hour
Light through the year
- April–October
Clearest water colour and the longest queues; the 7:30–9:00 window is worth the early boat.
- November–March
Greener headland, fewer people, but haze and rain can flatten the colour by noon.
