Why here
Why choose Flying dress photoshoot in Nusa Penida?
Nusa Penida is where the flying dress makes the most sense: limestone cliffs dropping into turquoise water, and a steady sea breeze that lifts the train without an assistant fighting it. Kelingking’s T-Rex headland is the frame most people come for, Diamond Beach the softer alternative with its carved stairway and white sand. The island has no polished roads between them, so we plan one coast per session rather than racing across Penida and arriving at every cliff in harsh midday light. The dress travels with the photographer in several colours and a range of sizes.
How the shoot is planned
What does the shoot in Nusa Penida look like?
01
The route
On the west-coast route we meet at the Kelingking car park and start on the upper viewpoint, where the headland sits behind you and the dress has open sky to fly against — this is where most of the session is spent, waiting for gusts rather than throwing fabric on a count. The path down the ridge is steep and narrow, so we shoot a few frames on the first stretch only and never ask you to climb it in a gown. If you want Broken Beach and the arch as well, where a second colour reads well against the circular bay, add an extra hour ($100) for the short drive and the change in the car. On the east-coast route Diamond Beach replaces both: the stairway and the sand, with the cliff edge above Atuh as the extra-hour stop.
02
The timing
Light on Penida is decided by which coast you face. Kelingking and Broken Beach look west, so they work from mid-afternoon to sunset; Diamond Beach faces east and is best from sunrise to about 9 am. Midday is flat and crowded on both. The dry season, roughly April to October, brings the steadiest breeze and calmer crossings from Sanur; in the wet season, November to March, mornings are usually clear and storms build after lunch, so we lean towards east-coast mornings. Kelingking draws queues on the viewpoint by late morning. Strong wind is good for the dress but can cancel boats, so keep a spare day after the shoot date if you can.

01What does the Nusa Penida flying dress shoot cost all in?
The shoot is from $290 with the dress, 30 minutes and 15+ edited photos included. If you want us to handle the crossing, the island-transfer add-on is $90 and covers coordinating the fast boat and a private car on the island. Fast-boat tickets themselves, the island’s visitor levy and the small parking or entry fees at each beach are paid on the day and are not part of the price.
02How do we get to Nusa Penida from Bali, and how early do we leave?
Most fast boats leave from Sanur, and the crossing takes around 30 to 45 minutes. For an afternoon shoot at Kelingking you can catch a mid-morning boat and still have time for lunch; a sunrise session at Diamond Beach realistically means staying the night on Penida, because the first boats arrive after the best light. Roads on the island are slow and bumpy, so allow an hour or more from the harbour to either coast.
03What should I wear under the dress, and what shoes?
Wear a nude or matching seamless set, since the fabric is light and the wind presses it close. Come in comfortable clothes and trainers with good grip: the paths at Kelingking are dusty and uneven, and Diamond Beach has a long stairway cut into the rock. You shoot barefoot or in simple sandals that stay out of frame. Hair down or loosely tied moves well; hair and make-up is available as a $90 add-on.
04Can you add drone shots of the dress at Kelingking?
Yes, as the $150 drone add-on, flown by our licensed drone pilot within Indonesian drone regulations. A train spread across the grass above the bay is one of the frames that only works from the air. Penida is not a national park, but some viewpoints are managed by the local village and can restrict flights on busy days, so we confirm on site and fly only where it is allowed and safe for the people around us.
