The route
The day before, the photographer checks the viewpoint and sends you a map pin and a photo of the exact spot to stop — a flat patch of ground back from the edge, with the islets lined up behind. On the morning they arrive twenty minutes before you, dressed like any other sunrise visitor, with a long lens that lets them work from a distance. You walk your partner to the marked spot; a WhatsApp message or an agreed gesture — taking off your sunglasses, say — tells the photographer you are about to kneel. The proposal itself is photographed continuously, from the moment you stop to the hug afterwards. Then the photographer walks over, introduces themself, and we use the remaining time for portraits on the clifftop and, if there is time, down the road at the Atuh stair.
