Bali photoshoot
Thirty minutes at one of the places that look like Bali — a rice terrace, a temple gate, a cliff above the Indian Ocean — started at sunrise or in the last light, when the queues are shorter and the sky is softer.

A Bali photoshoot is 30 minutes with a photographer at one location in a single area of the island, from $160, with 15+ edited photos delivered to a private online gallery within 48–72 hours. One location is the point. Bali traffic is slow — the drive from Canggu to Ubud alone can take an hour or more — so half an hour spent properly in one place, whether the rice terraces around Ubud, the cliffs of Uluwatu or the black-sand beaches of Canggu, gives more varied frames than three places glimpsed from a car window. For more time or a second spot nearby, add an extra hour for $100. Travel within the booked area is included; entry tickets and temple donations are not.
Light decides more than location. Bali lies close to the equator, so the sun rises and sets at roughly the same time all year, around six, and the soft light lasts barely an hour at each end of the day. Sunrise suits Ubud, its terraces and waterfalls, which fill with visitors by mid-morning; the west coast — Canggu, Seminyak, Uluwatu — faces the sunset. The dry season runs roughly from April to October. In the wet season, November to March, afternoon storms are common but mornings are usually clear, so we plan early starts and keep a spare date in mind.
If you want a temple in the frame, bring or rent a sarong and sash; priests may limit photography during ceremonies, and we follow their call. Famous spots such as the Lempuyang "Gates of Heaven" or the Tegallalang terraces have queues — at Lempuyang they can run to hours — so we either start at sunrise or suggest a quieter spot nearby with the same feel. Nothing needs choosing on the day: the photographer selects and edits, and the gallery arrives within 48–72 hours. An express 24-hour delivery can be added if you are flying out sooner.

Frequently asked questions: Bali photoshoot
What should we wear in Bali’s heat and humidity?
Linen, cotton or light silk in white, sand, terracotta, sage or deep blue — they work against green jungle and against the ocean. Avoid heavy synthetics and fabrics that show sweat, such as grey jersey. Bring a small towel and blotting papers: at sunrise the air is cooler and make-up lasts longer. For temples and rice terraces add flat shoes with grip — the paths are steep and often wet.
What happens if it rains?
In the wet season, roughly November to March, storms usually build in the afternoon and mornings are often clear, so in those months we suggest sunrise starts. If it is pouring at the start time, we wait up to half an hour or move the shoot to another morning of your stay. Light drizzle under cloud is no reason to stop — it gives even, flattering light; lightning and a downpour are.
Can we shoot at the Lempuyang “Gates of Heaven”?
Yes, but plan for it. Visitors take a queue number and are photographed at the gate in turns, a few frames each; in high season the wait can be several hours, so the only sensible start is before sunrise. Sarongs are required and are rented at the entrance against a donation. The famous “lake” reflection is a mirror held under a phone lens — we can make the same frame, or shoot the gate as it really is.
