The route
We meet at the top of the Diamond Beach stair while it is still dark enough for a torch, and walk down slowly — about ten minutes — so you arrive on the sand as the sky turns from blue to pink. The first frames are wide: the two of you small at the waterline, the pointed stacks offshore, the stair zigzagging up the cliff behind. As the sun clears the horizon it lights the cliff face orange, and we move in closer for the portraits that carry the gallery — foreheads together, walking through the wash, sitting on the sand. We finish halfway up the stair, looking back over the beach, before the first visitors start coming down. With an extra hour, we go back to your bungalow afterwards for slow breakfast-on-the-terrace frames while the light is still soft.
