A couple photoshoot on Nusa Penida costs from $170 for 30 minutes and gives you 15+ edited photos online within 48–72 hours. On a day trip we shoot Broken Beach and, at low tide, Angel’s Billabong in late-morning light. The photographer’s boat and car are the $90 island-transfer add-on; your tickets and entry fees are separate.

Why here
Why choose Couple photoshoot in Nusa Penida?
Most couples come to Nusa Penida for a single day, and that is the problem with most Penida shoots: the famous viewpoints are at their best at sunrise or late afternoon, exactly when day-trippers are on the boat. Broken Beach is the exception. The circular cove under its stone arch and the rock pool of Angel’s Billabong next door look their best in late-morning to early-afternoon sun, when the water inside the ring glows turquoise and the pool is clear to the bottom — the hours a day trip actually gives you. The loop path around the rim is wide enough to walk side by side, which suits a couple shoot better than a queue at a railing. And the two of you are framed by a landscape, not a crowd, because the rim is long enough for everyone to spread out.
How the shoot is planned
What does the shoot in Nusa Penida look like?
01
The route
We park at the shared Broken Beach car park and walk the rim clockwise. The first stop is the stretch above the arch, where you stand on the grass with the sea pouring through the opening below — wide frames first, then closer ones as you relax. We keep walking the loop, using the curve of the cove behind you for walking shots and a few quiet frames sitting back from the edge. If the tide is low, we finish at Angel’s Billabong, a few minutes away, photographing you from the inland side of the pool with its clear green water in front; if it is high, we skip it without discussion and finish on the far side of the rim instead. Nobody stands on the seaward rocks at any tide.
02
The timing
This is the one Penida shoot that runs to the boat timetable rather than against it. A morning boat from Sanur gets you to the west coast by late morning, and between roughly eleven and one the sun is high enough to light the water inside the ring and the Billabong pool from above. The tide matters more than the hour: we check the tide table for your date and place the session in the low-water window if you want the pool. From April to October the water is clearest but the platforms are busiest; from November to March the morning is the safest part of the day, before afternoon storms, and the paths can be muddy after rain.
What’s included
What does the package include?
The Couple photoshoot package in Nusa Penida covers: 15+ edited photos; One location matched to the light — cliffs at sunset, jungle in the morning; An outfit change or a second spot with the extra-hour add-on; Direction for couples who have never been photographed together; Private online gallery within 48–72 hours. Nothing is added to the price after the shoot. Permits worth knowing about: Kelingking Beach — small parking and entry fee; the descent to the beach is a steep, partly railed path of about an hour; Broken Beach & Angel's Billabong — small shared entry and parking fee; Angel's Billabong is closed to swimmers at high tide; Diamond Beach — small entry fee; stairs carved into the cliff, about 10 minutes down; Atuh Beach — small parking fee; sunbed rental from the warungs on the sand; Thousand Islands Viewpoint (Raja Lima) — small entry fee; the nearby tree house charges separately.
Only at low tide and only from the inland side. At high tide or with a big swell, waves break over the outer rocks without warning, and people have been swept into the sea. We check the tide for your date, look at the swell on arrival and skip the pool if in doubt — Broken Beach alone gives a full session.
02Why not just shoot at Kelingking?
You can, but on a day trip you would reach Kelingking in its busiest hours, between ten and three, when the platform is a queue. Broken Beach is twenty minutes away and at its best in exactly those hours. If Kelingking matters to you, either stay the night and shoot it early, or add an extra hour ($100) and take it in the late-afternoon window before your boat.
03What should we wear for a midday shoot?
Light, breathable fabrics in colours that hold up in strong sun: white, cream, coral, soft yellow. Avoid black, which soaks up heat, and pale blue, which disappears against the water. Hats and sunglasses are great between frames, and we use them in a few shots. Bring proper shoes for the rim path and blotting papers — midday heat is the real challenge.
04How long is the whole day from Bali?
Longer than the 30 minutes suggests. Allow the drive to Sanur (from Canggu or Uluwatu that can be an hour or more in the morning traffic), about forty minutes on the boat, roughly an hour on Penida’s roads to the west coast, the session itself, lunch and the same in reverse. Ten to twelve hours door to door is realistic.
