The route
We meet at the Pererenan beach road about fifty minutes before sunset. The film often begins before the beach: the two of you arriving on a scooter, filmed from the roadside with helmets on, then walking down the path with your sandals in your hand. On the sand the videographer stays wide and moves with a gimbal while you walk and talk, then comes in for details — hands, a whisper, hair blowing across a face — with the surf audible behind. A few directed moments give the edit its structure: a run into the shallows, one of you lifting the other, a slow turn towards the sun. In the last minutes we film the light going, the two of you small at the waterline. With an extra hour ($100) we begin on a paddy lane in Tibubeneng in the late afternoon for a quieter, greener opening scene, then drive five minutes to the coast for the ending.
