That privacy is the point of a honeymoon session here. The intimate frames — breakfast in bathrobes, the two of you in the pool, a flower bath — happen inside your own walls, where nobody is passing. What does the shoot in Seminyak look like?

The route

The villa half is unhurried. The photographer arrives in the late afternoon, when the garden is in shade and light comes through the open living room sideways. We start with details — rings, the flowers your villa staff have laid out, two glasses on the pool edge — and then the two of you: on the daybed, at the steps of the pool, in the water with the frangipani overhead. If your villa offers a floating breakfast or a flower bath, it can be arranged for the session (the villa sets it up and charges for it, not us). With the extra hour we then walk or drive to the beach — Petitenget or Batu Belig, depending on where you are staying — for the last twenty minutes of sun and the blue afterglow, still dressed for dinner.

The timing

For a villa-only session, late afternoon is softest: the walls of Seminyak compounds put the pool in shade by around 4:30 pm, which avoids hard reflections and squinting. A floating breakfast is the exception — it is a morning shoot by nature, best between 8 and 9 am before the sun clears the walls. For villa plus beach, start about 90 minutes before sunset. April to October gives the most dependable evenings; in the wet season we plan the villa part first, under cover, and treat the beach as the reward if the storm has passed.

Is it awkward to have a photographer at our villa on honeymoon?

It is less awkward than being photographed in public, which is why most couples choose it. The photographer is there for half an hour, works around you rather than rearranging the villa, and you decide in advance what is off limits. Swimwear and bathrobe frames are shot tastefully and only if you want them.

Our hotel is a resort, not a villa. Can we still shoot there?

Often yes, but some larger beachfront resorts in Seminyak ask outside photographers to register in advance or pay a fee to use their grounds. Tell us the name when you book and we will check. If the resort says no, your room terrace is usually fine, and the public beach in front of every hotel is always open.

Can we bring wedding clothes for the honeymoon shoot?

Yes, and on the beach it makes a lovely set — the dress in the wash at sunset. A full gown is warm in Seminyak’s humidity, so plan to change at the villa just before we walk out. If you would like a long flowing dress without packing one, the flying dress rental is $120 and includes the styling of the train.

We fly home the next day. Can we get the photos faster?

Yes. Express delivery puts the whole edited gallery online within 24 hours for $50, instead of the usual 48–72. Seminyak is roughly thirty minutes to an hour from the airport depending on traffic, so an evening session the day before a flight is common.
