Why here

Why choose Honeymoon photoshoot in Uluwatu?

Most honeymoon photos on the Bukit are taken at sunset, which is exactly why we often suggest the morning. At seven o’clock the coves under the cliffs are empty, the sea is usually glassy before the wind picks up, and Padang Padang — packed by eleven — belongs to the two of you and a few surfers. You walk down through the famous rock cleft, swim if you like, and are back at your villa for a late breakfast while everyone else is still on their way. The other option is not to leave home at all: many honeymoon villas in Uluwatu hang on the cliff with an infinity pool facing the ocean, and that is the place you will remember. The 30 minutes take one of these; an extra hour gives both.

How the shoot is planned

What does the shoot in Uluwatu look like?

01

The route

For the morning version we meet at the Padang Padang gate shortly after sunrise and photograph the descent first: the two of you on the narrow stairs inside the cleft, light falling from above. On the beach we start at the rocks on the right where the water is calm, then move into the shallows for close, quiet frames — foreheads together, a wet hem, laughing as a wave comes in further than expected. If you want to swim, we shoot that too. With the extra hour we drive back to your villa, where breakfast or coffee is waiting on the terrace, and spend the rest of the session at the pool’s edge with the ocean below. The villa-only version runs the same way in reverse, in the late-afternoon light.

02

The timing

For the cove, be at the gate within half an hour of sunrise, roughly between 6 and 6:30 am depending on the month; by mid-morning the beach is busy and by mid-afternoon the cliff shades the sand. For a cliff villa, the hour before sunset is warmest, but the ocean view looks west straight into the sun, so we place you with the light behind you rather than in your eyes. The dry season, April to October, is the most reliable and the busiest; the swell is big then, so we stay in the sheltered corner of the cove. From November to March mornings are usually clear and the water calmer, which makes the early version the better bet in those months.

FAQ — Honeymoon photoshoot in Uluwatu

Can we swim during the honeymoon shoot?

Yes, at the cove in calm conditions. We bring a dry bag for your things and shoot from the shallows. Padang Padang has reef and a surf break on one side, so we stay in the sandy corner and keep out of the water if the swell is up. Swimwear plus a light cover-up gives two looks without an extra hour.

Can you add a drone shot of our cliff villa?

Usually, yes. The drone add-on is $150 and a licensed pilot joins the session. Most cliff villas around Uluwatu, Pecatu and Ungasan are outside the restricted zone around Ngurah Rai airport, but we check your address first, and we never fly over the temple. A frame of the two of you in the pool from above is the favourite.

We are not used to posing together. Will it feel staged?

Less than you think. Most of the session is movement with a simple prompt — walk to the rocks, whisper something, dance badly in the shallows — and we photograph what happens next. A quiet early-morning cove makes this much easier than a crowded sunset spot, because there is no one watching you.

Could we wear a flying dress on our honeymoon?

Yes, the flying dress rental is $120 on top of the honeymoon session, laced to fit and chosen in advance. It works best on an open clifftop with wind rather than inside a cove, so we would pair it with the villa edge or a short stop on the cliffs, and the extra hour ($100) makes room for the change.
