Why here

Why choose Couple photoshoot in Uluwatu?

Uluwatu is where Bali stops being green and turns into limestone and open ocean. The west-facing cliffs of the Bukit catch the sun as it drops into the Indian Ocean, and below them sit small beaches reached by steps or a road cut through the rock — Melasti, Bingin, Padang Padang — each with its own texture of stone and sand. For a couple, that means even a short session can move from the limestone walls to bare feet in the shallows without a long drive in between. We plan the half hour around the tide and the last light, not around a list of famous spots.

How the shoot is planned

What does the shoot in Uluwatu look like?

01

The route

We meet about 40 minutes before sunset at the top of the Melasti road, where the cut limestone walls give the first relaxed frames while you get used to the camera. From there it is a short walk down to the sand: if the tide is out, the wet beach turns into a mirror and we spend the rest of the session at the waterline, walking, talking, letting the waves reach your ankles as the sun goes down. With an extra hour ($100) we also climb back for a clifftop finish — a grassy edge above the ocean nearby, with the sun low behind you and warm light on skin. On a high-tide day we swap Melasti for the paths above Bingin, with its stairs, warungs and surfers below.

02

The timing

Sunset is the default here because the coast faces west and the sun goes down over open water for most of the year. Sunrise works too and is almost empty, but the cliffs stay in shade until the sun clears the peninsula, so it suits soft, quiet frames rather than golden ones. The dry season, roughly April to October, brings clear evenings and the big swells surfers travel for; from November to March afternoon storms are common, although the Bukit is usually drier than the hills inland. The beaches below the cliffs depend on the tide, so we pick the date with a tide chart open and always keep a clifftop backup.

FAQ — Couple photoshoot in Uluwatu

How much does a couple photoshoot in Uluwatu cost in total?

The base price is $170 for 30 minutes and 15+ edited photos, with the photographer’s travel within the Bukit included. Popular add-ons are a drone pass for $150, an extra hour for $100 and hair and makeup for $90. The only costs on the day are small entry or parking fees at some beach roads such as Melasti, paid in cash at the gate.

What should we wear for cliffs and a beach in one session?

Light, flowing fabrics in solid colours look best against pale limestone and blue water: linen shirts, a long dress or skirt that catches the sea breeze. Avoid busy prints and logos. Wear flat sandals for the walk down and up — Bingin’s steps in particular are steep — and plan to go barefoot on the sand. A dress that can get a little wet at the hem saves worrying at the waterline.

Can we include Uluwatu Temple in the shoot?

The cliff paths around Pura Luhur Uluwatu can be part of the session, but the temple has its own ticket, a sarong and sash are required, and the inner courtyards are for worshippers only. It also fills up before the evening Kecak dance, and the resident monkeys grab sunglasses and phones. For most couples a quieter clifftop gives the same ocean view without the crowd, so we suggest the temple only if it matters to you.

What happens if it rains or the beach is under water?

A weather reschedule is free: we watch the forecast with you the day before and, if a storm is due at sunset, move the shoot to another evening of your stay or to a clear morning. A high tide is not a reason to cancel — it only changes which beach we use, because the clifftops above Uluwatu are dry in any tide. We check the tide chart when you book so the plan already accounts for it.
