Why here

Why choose Destination wedding photographer in Uluwatu?

Uluwatu is where most of Bali’s clifftop wedding venues are, and a full wedding day here is shaped by one fact: the ceremony faces the ocean and the sun sets behind it. That gives a photographer a clear structure — soft light for preparations, a ceremony timed to the golden hour, portraits on the cliff edge while guests have drinks, then a reception that turns to candles and string lights. The 30-minute starting coverage takes the ceremony moment and couple portraits; with extra hours ($100 each) we photograph the whole day as your guests live it, from the first button done up to the dance floor, without leaving anyone out.

How the shoot is planned

What does the shoot in Uluwatu look like?

01

The route

With the full day booked through extra hours, a typical day starts around midday with details and getting ready: the dress, the shoes, the invitation suite, then both of you in separate villas with the people closest to you. Mid-afternoon is the first look and a short portrait session on the venue grounds while the light is still high. Guests are seated about an hour before sunset; we photograph the processional from the aisle, the vows from the side and the kiss with the ocean behind. Straight after come family groups from a list you send in advance, then twenty minutes of couple portraits on the cliff edge in the best light of the day. The reception follows — entrance, speeches, first dance, cake — and we stay until the party is in full swing.

02

The timing

Clifftop ceremonies in Uluwatu are almost always set about an hour before sunset, which shifts between roughly 6 and 6:45 pm through the year, so the whole timeline is built backwards from that. The dry months from April to October are the safest and the most in demand; venues for July, August and September often book a year ahead. A wet-season wedding is possible with a covered plan B, and storms usually pass within an hour. Check the date against Nyepi and major temple ceremonies, which can close roads or restrict noise, and remember that guests flying in need the airport open.

FAQ — Destination wedding photographer in Uluwatu

Do Uluwatu wedding venues charge a fee for outside photographers?

Some do. Several clifftop resorts keep a preferred-vendor list and charge a fee per outside photographer or videographer; others include it in the wedding package or waive it. The amount is set by the venue and paid to them, not to us. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we will check whether a fee applies and whether we have worked there before.

What is the plan if it rains on the wedding day?

Every Uluwatu venue has a wet-weather option — a covered pavilion, a ballroom or a terrace under a roof — and your planner will confirm it when you book. On the day we follow the venue’s call and photograph wherever the ceremony moves. Storms here are often short, so we watch the sky and step out for portraits the moment it clears; wet stone and a dramatic sky after rain can make some of the best frames.

Can you shoot a pre-wedding or welcome dinner as well?

Yes. Many couples add a pre-wedding photoshoot a day or two earlier, in Ubud’s rice fields or on an Uluwatu beach, which is a separate booking from $590. A welcome dinner or the morning after can be covered with extra hours at $100 each. Booking everything with one photographer means you are comfortable with the camera by the time the wedding day starts.

How long until we get all the wedding photos?

A preview selection of edited photos is delivered within 48 hours, which is usually enough for an announcement and for thanking guests. The full gallery follows in two to three weeks, edited frame by frame and online in a private gallery your family can download from. If you also book a wedding film, that has its own schedule of four to six weeks, with the teaser in about a week.
