The route
For a ceremony in the savanna or at a sheltered spot below the rim, the crew arrives first, fits a microphone to the celebrant and sets two camera positions: one wide, holding the volcano and the whole scene, one close on your faces. You arrive by jeep, already in your wedding clothes with coats on, and the microphones go on under the coat collar and inside the jacket before you step out. The walk in, the vows, the rings and the first kiss are filmed continuously from both angles, so the edit can cut between a face and the scale of the caldera without losing a word. Straight after, while you still feel it, we film the first minutes as a married couple — the hug, a walk away across the grass or the sand, the coat put back over the dress. With extra hours, the film opens earlier: getting ready in your lodge by lamplight, the 3:30 jeep, the sunrise on the rim before the ceremony — and the film becomes the whole morning.
