The route
The videographer arrives well before the ceremony to meet whoever leads it — priest, penghulu or family elder — and agree where the microphones go: a small clip-on on the groom, one on the officiant or on the lectern, and a recorder linked to the venue’s sound desk where there is one. Then a few minutes of the room before guests fill it: the decoration, the rings, the families arriving. The ceremony itself is filmed from two angles where possible, one fixed wide and one moving close, so the vows can be cut without losing faces. In an akad nikah, the moment the witnesses confirm the marriage and the room exhales is the centre of the film. The last ten minutes are the first quiet frames of the two of you together, somewhere near the venue with good window light, which becomes the closing scene and the teaser.
