In short

A wedding film in Bali costs from $1,490 for 30 minutes around the ceremony, edited into a 2–3 minute film with a 30-second teaser within a week and the full film in 4–6 weeks. The area shapes the plan: wind and backlight on the Bukit cliffs, surf and no drone in Jimbaran and Nusa Dua, rain plans in Ubud.

Why here

Why choose Wedding film in Bali?

For a wedding film the venue’s area matters in ways a photographer barely notices. On the Bukit clifftops the ceremony faces the sunset, which looks magnificent and means wind across the microphones and backlight on faces; the vows need lapel recorders on the groom and celebrant, and the framing has to work with the sun. On a Jimbaran or Nusa Dua beach the surf is a constant soundtrack, and the airport’s restricted airspace usually rules out drone shots. In Seminyak and Canggu villa weddings, the reception noise and music carry into the evening, which is good for energy and hard for speeches without a feed from the sound system. In Ubud the soundscape is soft — water, birds, insects at dusk — but rain is more likely and shade comes early under the trees. None of these is a problem if the film is planned for them.

How the shoot is planned

What does the shoot in Bali look like?

01

The route

The 30-minute base covers the ceremony with clean sound and the moments straight after; preparations, speeches and the first dance are extra hours at $100 each. On a Bukit clifftop the videographer arrives early to fit the microphones, checks levels against the wind, and films the processional from the aisle and the vows from the side so faces are not lost against the sun; portraits on the cliff edge follow in the last light. At a Jimbaran or Nusa Dua resort the ceremony is filmed with the surf in the background, the recorders closer to the speakers, and the aerial establishing shot replaced by a long ground-level tracking shot along the beach. At a Canggu or Seminyak villa the reception is the heart of the film, so we take a feed from the DJ or mixer for speeches. In Ubud we film the ceremony and then step out to the valley edge for the couple’s part while the light is still there.

02

The timing

Clifftop and beach ceremonies on the west coast are usually set about an hour before sunset, around six all year, which gives the film its golden middle section. Ubud ceremonies work better earlier in the afternoon, because the valleys lose direct light sooner and the wet-season showers tend to arrive late in the day. The dry season, April to October, is the most reliable everywhere and the busiest for venues; from November to March the Bukit is the driest choice, and every venue should have a covered plan B that the videographer scouts before the day. Avoid Nyepi, and check for ceremonies in nearby temples, which can bring processions and gamelan into your soundtrack.

FAQ — Wedding film in Bali

Can our wedding film include drone footage of the venue?

If the venue is outside restricted airspace and allows it, yes — book the drone video alongside the film. Most Uluwatu, Canggu and Ubud venues are usually possible. Venues in Jimbaran and Nusa Dua typically sit inside the zone around Ngurah Rai airport, where we do not fly. We check your address before you confirm.

Will the surf drown out our vows on a beach ceremony?

No. The groom and the celebrant wear small lapel recorders, so the vows are captured a few centimetres from the voice, and we check levels before you walk in. The surf stays in the mix as atmosphere. If you add hours for the reception, a third recorder goes near the speakers or we take a feed from the venue’s sound system.

Does an Ubud wedding film look very different from a cliff one?

Yes, in a good way. A cliff film is about scale and colour — ocean, sky, wind. An Ubud film is greener and closer: the sound of water, light through leaves, mist if the morning cooperates. The grading follows the place, so you end up with a film that feels like where you married rather than a generic Bali sunset.

When does the teaser arrive, and when the full film?

The 30-second teaser arrives within a week, wherever the wedding was, so you can share it while guests are still on the island or just home. The full film follows in four to six weeks, after the edit, grading and sound mix. If you also booked photography, its 48-hour preview usually lands first.
