The route
We agree the three concepts before the day, with a hook for the first second of each. We meet on the square about twenty minutes before sunset. Reel one is the transition: a wide, slow move from the banyans in the last daylight to the same frame lit up after dark, with you walking through both. Reel two is masangin — you rent a blindfold from one of the vendors, we film the set-up, the walk from behind and from the front, and your reaction when the blindfold comes off, wherever you have ended up. Reel three is the night: climbing into a glowing pedal car and riding a lap, then a close, warm shot of a bowl of wedang ronde with steam in the lights. The 30 minutes are tight, so the order is fixed; an extra hour ($100) lets us add Malioboro’s night street for alternative takes.
