What does the shoot in Uluwatu look like?

The route

We agree the three concepts before the day — for example a “walk into Bali” reveal, an outfit-change sequence and a slow, atmospheric beach piece — and the shot list for each. On the morning we start at the top of the Melasti road, filming the walk down between the limestone walls from several angles, with a gimbal tracking shot for the reveal at the bend. On the beach we film the outfit sequence against the plain backdrop of sand and cliff, matching your position frame to frame so the cuts land cleanly. The last ten minutes are for texture: water running over your feet, a slow turn into the light, fabric in the wind, close-ups of hands and hair. Every shot is filmed vertically, never cropped from horizontal.

The timing

Melasti faces south-east, so its light is best from sunrise to about 9 am: the sun lights the cliffs from the front and the water is at its bluest. Later in the day the beach fills up and, towards sunset, the cliff throws long shadows across the sand — then the road and the clifftop are still usable, but the beach is not. Check the tide: at high water the strip of sand narrows. The dry season, April to October, brings the clearest mornings; in the wet season, early starts usually beat the afternoon storms. Allow extra time on the road — Melasti is popular and the approach can be slow.

Can three reels really come from one 30-minute session?

Yes, because each reel is 15–30 seconds and the concepts are planned before we start. A reel uses a handful of two- to four-second clips, so the session is spent filming exactly those, several takes each. More locations or more outfits need an extra hour ($100), but the three-reel format itself fits the half hour.

Can you also film at Uluwatu Temple or on the cliffs at sunset?

Yes, as a second location with an extra hour ($100) on a separate evening, since Melasti is a morning spot and the cliffs are an evening one. At the temple we film from the public paths, respect worshippers and keep equipment minimal; the monkeys take more interest in a gimbal than you would expect.

Will the reels match the look of my existing feed?

That is the aim. Send us a few of your reels or a profile link when you book, and we grade the footage to match — warm or cool, contrasty or soft. You receive each reel with music and without, so you can add a trending sound in the app yourself without copyright issues.

Can you film from above with a drone at Melasti?

Not as part of the Reels booking — the drone add-on is only for photo sessions. If you want aerial shots in your reels, book a Drone video alongside, and we check the Melasti area against airspace rules and keep away from crowds on the beach. Ground-level vertical footage carries most reels anyway.
