The route
Before the ceremony we fit the lapel recorders, check levels against the wind and agree a small signal with your celebrant for a pause if the call to prayer begins. Filming starts with the setting — the empty aisle on the sand, the arch moving in the breeze, guests arriving barefoot — then the walk down the aisle from a low angle so the sea is behind. During the vows a camera on a tripod holds the wide frame while the videographer moves with a second one for faces and hands, so the edit can cut between them without losing a word. Straight after, while guests gather for drinks, a few minutes with the two of you down the beach in the last light give the film its closing scene. With extra hours we add the morning — preparations, letters, the island waking up — and the evening: speeches recorded from the venue’s sound system, the first dance on the sand, and sparklers or lanterns over the water.
