Why here
Why choose Pre-wedding photoshoot in Uluwatu?
A pre-wedding shoot is the one where you dress up without the pressure of the day itself, and the pictures end up on the invitation, the welcome sign and the screen at the reception. Uluwatu gives that formality a backdrop with weight: carved limestone, sea caves and a sun that sets into open water. Our favourite base for it is Tegal Wangi, a small cove on the Jimbaran side of the Bukit where the cliff has been hollowed into arches and caves that frame a couple in a gown and suit like a doorway to the ocean. Couples who want a second, contrasting look add extra hours and start at Garuda Wisnu Kencana, the cultural park in Ungasan, whose towering cut-stone walls feel more like a film set than a beach.
How the shoot is planned
What does the shoot in Uluwatu look like?
01
The route
With the full two-look plan, the afternoon starts at Garuda Wisnu Kencana around 3 pm in the casual or traditional outfit. We work the cut-limestone corridors where the walls rise straight up on both sides, then the open plaza with the giant statue as a distant background. You change at the car, and we drive about fifteen minutes towards Jimbaran. At Tegal Wangi a short stair path leads down from the clifftop temple area to the cove; the gown is carried, not dragged. The caves come first while the light reaches into them, then the arches with the sea behind, and the last frames are on the rocks facing the sun as it drops. The base 30-minute session is this second half alone: Tegal Wangi, one formal outfit, sunset.
02
The timing
Tegal Wangi faces west, so it is a sunset location: start about an hour before the sun goes down, which is roughly between 6 and 6:45 pm depending on the month. Garuda Wisnu Kencana works best in the mid to late afternoon, when the stone walls are lit at an angle rather than from overhead. The cove depends on the tide — at high water the cave floor floods — so we fix the date with a tide chart. The dry season, April to October, gives the steadiest evenings; it is also wedding season, so book early if your wedding falls in July or August and the pre-wedding is the same week.
What’s included
What does the package include?
The Pre-wedding photoshoot package in Uluwatu covers: 15+ edited photos; One location and one outfit, timed for the best light; A second location and outfit with extra hours — the drive between them planned; Entry fees and photo permits for each spot listed in advance; Full gallery within 7 days. Nothing is added to the price after the shoot. Permits worth knowing about: Pura Luhur Uluwatu — ticket around IDR 50,000 incl. sarong; kecak around IDR 150,000; no drones over the temple; Karang Boma Cliff — small access fee collected locally; no barrier at the edge; Padang Padang Beach — entry around IDR 15,000 for foreign visitors; Melasti Beach — small entry and parking fee, around IDR 10,000–20,000.
Yes, with a little planning. Wear flat sandals for the stairs and change into heels at the bottom, if at all — on sand and rock most brides go barefoot. We carry the train and any veil down for you. Avoid a long cathedral train for this location; a flowing chiffon or a slip dress handles sand, wind and wet rock far better.
02Are there fees at Garuda Wisnu Kencana or Tegal Wangi?
Yes. Garuda Wisnu Kencana charges an entry ticket per person and has a separate arrangement for pre-wedding photography; Tegal Wangi usually asks only for a small parking or entry fee. None of these are part of the $590, and we send you the current amounts before you confirm so there is nothing new on the day.
03Can we bring a traditional Balinese outfit?
Yes, and Garuda Wisnu Kencana is the right setting for it, with carved stone and the statue of Vishnu on Garuda behind you. Rental and dressing are arranged with a local studio and priced separately from the shoot; the hair and makeup add-on ($90) can be booked with us. Allow an extra hour, as the dressing itself takes time.
04Why does a pre-wedding gallery take 7 days?
Because these photos are often printed large and used on stationery, every selected frame gets full retouching: skin, stray hairs, footprints in the sand, the odd tourist in a cave mouth. That takes longer than a holiday gallery. There is no express option for pre-weddings, so if you need the photos for invitations, book at least a couple of weeks before your print deadline.
