Why here

Why choose Villa & hotel photography in Ubud?

An Ubud villa sells its view. Guests book a pool hanging over a river gorge, a bedroom that opens onto palms, a bathtub facing the rice — and most listings fail to show it, because those rooms are dark timber and stone under deep eaves while the jungle outside is in bright light. A phone picks one and loses the other. Our approach is built for that contrast: every interior is shot as several blended exposures, so the room is readable and the green outside the glass or the open wall is still green. The other Ubud specifics are humidity, which fogs glass and lenses moving from air-conditioned rooms, and orientation — a valley villa can lose its sun behind the ridge by mid-afternoon, so we plan the time of day around which way your property faces.

How the shoot is planned

What does the shoot in Ubud look like?

01

The route

Before the day we agree a shot list with you — usually the hero view, the living area, the master bedroom and bathroom, and the pool. On arrival the photographer walks the property once without a camera, turns on every lamp, opens doors to the garden and checks for condensation on glass. The 30 minutes go in order of light: the pool and the view first, while the valley is lit and the water is still, then the living space and the master suite, each from two or three angles with the view framed through the opening. Details — a carved door, the stone basin, the bed against the jungle — fill gaps. With extra hours we cover every bedroom, the kitchen and any yoga deck or bale, then stay into twilight, when the pool lights and lanterns glow against the dark blue of the gorge.

02

The timing

For most valley villas, mid-morning to early afternoon gives the most even interior light and the clearest view, with the sun high enough to light the far side of the gorge. A villa on the west side of a valley may be best from late morning; one facing east, early. Twilight frames need about twenty minutes after sunset. In the wet season, November to March, clouds often build by early afternoon, so we start earlier and keep a second date in hand for the twilight shot. Rice outside the window follows its own cycle — if the fields next door have just been harvested, it may be worth waiting a few weeks for them to turn green again.

FAQ — Villa & hotel photography in Ubud

Our interiors are very dark wood. Will they look gloomy?

No. Dark timber is the reason we blend exposures rather than flash the room: the wood keeps its warmth, the shadows open up, and the window does not burn out. We switch on every lamp for a warm glow and may add a little soft light from outside the frame. The result looks like the room feels in person, not like a brightened catalogue shot.

Can you show where the villa is — the rice fields, the gorge, the distance to town?

From the ground we include the view and the approach path. For context from above, add the drone add-on for $150: Ubud is well outside the airport’s restricted airspace, though tall palms can limit take-off spots and we keep the drone off neighbours’ gardens and any temple nearby. For a full aerial set with video, the Property drone shoot is the better fit.

Can you shoot while guests are staying?

It is much better between bookings. Guests’ belongings in a room take time to clear, and people at the pool limit what we can show. If the calendar is full, a changeover day works: housekeeping prepares the main rooms first, and we shoot them as each is finished. Staff and scooters should be out of sight for the exterior frames.

How quickly can we update the listing?

The edited gallery arrives in 48–72 hours, sized for booking platforms and your website. If a listing is going live or a season is about to start, express delivery for $50 brings it within 24 hours. The licence covers listings, your own site and social media; tell us if an agency will reuse the photos.
