Why here

Why choose Holiday photoshoot in Labuan Bajo?

Most people come to Labuan Bajo for the Komodo boat trip and leave with phone photos taken by whoever was standing nearby. A short holiday session fixes that without taking over your trip. Thirty minutes is enough for one setting done properly: the sunset over a harbour full of wooden phinisi, the classic view from Padar’s ridge, or your own boat’s deck between islands. It suits travellers, friends and couples who want a handful of real photos of the place rather than a full production.

How the shoot is planned

What does the shoot in Labuan Bajo look like?

01

The route

The simplest format stays in town. We meet on one of the hills above Labuan Bajo about half an hour before sunset, start with relaxed portraits as the light warms, then use the view: the harbour below, phinisi at anchor, and islands stepping out into the Flores Sea. The last ten minutes are the sunset itself, with silhouettes against the sky. On a boat day the 30 minutes go to one moment: the climb and viewpoint on Padar, the walk on Pink Beach, or the deck of your phinisi under sail, sitting on the bow or leaning on the rail with the islands passing behind. To cover two stops, add an extra hour for $100. We agree in advance which stop gets the time, so your trip runs as planned.

02

The timing

For town sessions, book the 30 minutes ending at sunset, around 6 pm local time, which is the same time zone as Bali. Padar works best at sunrise, roughly 6 am, before the day boats arrive and the heat builds on the steps. The dry season runs roughly April to November, with reliable skies and golden hills from August; December to March brings green islands and short heavy showers, and some sea crossings become choppy. July, August and the end of the year are the busiest months, when Padar’s viewpoint is crowded at dawn and boats book out early, so lock in both the charter and the shoot before you fly.

FAQ — Holiday photoshoot in Labuan Bajo

What does the holiday shoot cost if it is on a boat trip?

The shoot is from $130 for 30 minutes and 15+ edited photos. A town sunset session has no extra costs beyond travel, which is included. If the shoot happens on a boat day, the photographer needs a seat on your phinisi or day trip, and we quote that in advance. Komodo National Park entry fees for you, and for the photographer on park islands, are paid separately and change from time to time.

Can we see Komodo dragons during the photoshoot?

Komodo dragons live on Komodo and Rinca islands, and visits there are guided by park rangers who set the distance and the route. We can take photos of you on the guided walk, but only from where the ranger allows, and we never ask you to approach an animal for a frame. Most holiday sessions focus on Padar, Pink Beach or the boat, where the light and backdrop are more predictable.

What should I wear for photos in Labuan Bajo?

Light linen, cotton dresses and shirts in white, sand, terracotta or bright blue suit both the harbour sunset and the islands. For Padar you need trainers and breathable clothing for the steps, and you can change into something nicer at the viewpoint. On the boat, bring a sun hat and a long, flowing piece that moves in the wind on deck. Swimwear is fine at Pink Beach; cover up in town, where the community is conservative.

Can we add drone shots or a reel to the holiday session?

Yes. A reel of 15–30 seconds is a $110 add-on and is easy to shoot on deck or at sunset. Drone shots are a $150 add-on, but inside Komodo National Park they depend on the park’s permit rules and the ranger on the day, so we confirm before you pay for them. Over the harbour and town hills drone flights are simpler, subject to Indonesian drone regulations.
