Why here
Why choose Pre-wedding photoshoot in Gili Islands?
A pre-wedding shoot is the one session where the clothes are planned weeks ahead — a gown, a suit, a traditional outfit — and that changes how you work on the Gilis. There is no car to change in and no road to the next location: everything travels by bicycle or horse cart, and long fabric meets sand and seawater. In return you get settings that look nothing like the rice terraces and cliffs most Bali pre-wedding galleries share. Gili Meno is our base: long beaches with nobody on them, and an inland salt lake fringed with scrub that gives a completely different, almost painterly background a few minutes from the sea. The base session is one outfit in one place; with extra hours we add a second look and the lake, planned so the change happens indoors and the light is not lost on the way.
How the shoot is planned
What does the shoot in Gili Islands look like?
01
The route
In the base 30 minutes we stay on one beach on Meno and work it properly: wide frames of the two of you on an empty curve of sand, the gown’s train laid out along the tideline, close portraits with the sea behind, and a walk into the shallows only at the very end so the fabric is wet in the last frames, not the first. With extra hours the day opens up. We start earlier at the salt lake in your second look, where the still water and the scrub around it give soft, muted colour and a reflection — a contrast with the turquoise later. Then a short ride back to your hotel to change, and the beach as the light turns gold. If you are based on Gili Trawangan, the morning island-hopping boat can bring you to Meno; we plan the session around its timetable.
02
The timing
Golden hour on Meno’s west and north beaches runs from about 5 pm to sunset at 6 to 6.30, and it is the slot we recommend for the outfit that matters most. The salt lake is better earlier, in the softer light of late afternoon, before mosquitoes come out at dusk. The dry season, April to October, gives steady weather and a breeze that moves veils and hems without fighting them; from November to March, plan a backup day, because a gown soaked in a tropical downpour is the end of that look. Leave at least a day between the shoot and any boat crossing: rough water can delay fast boats, and you do not want to be wondering whether your photographer will arrive while you are in hair and make-up.
What’s included
What does the package include?
The Pre-wedding photoshoot package in Gili Islands covers: 15+ edited photos; One location and one outfit, timed for the best light; A second location and outfit with extra hours — the drive between them planned; Entry fees and photo permits for each spot listed in advance; Full gallery within 7 days. Nothing is added to the price after the shoot. Permits worth knowing about: Gili Trawangan sunset swings — swings belong to beach bars and hotels; usually a drink order or a small fee.
01How do we get a wedding dress around an island with no cars?
Carefully and not far. We choose a beach close to your hotel so you can walk there in the dress with the train gathered, or ride in a horse cart with a sheet over the seat. Bring flat sandals for the walk and change shoes on the sand. For a second look with extra hours we go back to your room to change rather than improvising behind a palm.
02Can we do one outfit on Gili Meno and another on Trawangan?
Yes, but plan for it to take most of a day. Island-hopping boats between the three Gilis run only a couple of times a day, so moving between islands for a second look means extra hours and a schedule built around the boat. A private boat charter avoids the wait; it is arranged and paid locally. Two settings on Meno alone are much easier and still look very different.
03Is a flying dress possible for our pre-wedding on the Gilis?
Yes, as the $120 flying-dress rental for one of your looks. The Gilis have no cliffs, so the dress flies against open sky and sea rather than a dramatic drop, which suits a softer style. A long train dragged through seawater gets heavy fast, so we shoot it on dry sand first and only take it into the shallows for the final frames.
04When do we get the photos, and what does it all cost?
The full gallery is ready within 7 days. The base is $590 for 30 minutes, one outfit and 15+ edited photos; each extra hour is $100, and hair and make-up at your hotel is $90. If the photographer crosses from Bali or Lombok, the island transfer is $90. Boat tickets and any island fee are paid separately.
