The route
We meet in your lobby. If the hotel agrees, the first ten minutes happen on its own ground — the pool deck, a terrace, the driveway with the towers above — because hotel staff are usually relaxed about guests being photographed but not about outside crews walking in unannounced, so we ask the concierge a day ahead. Then we step out on foot. From Thamrin hotels, that means the roundabout at Bundaran HI and the Selamat Datang fountain; from Sudirman, one of the new pedestrian bridges where the avenue runs straight to the horizon; from Menteng, a slow walk under the trees past Dutch-era houses to Taman Suropati, a small park where locals play music in the evenings. The last minutes are whatever the light is doing — reflections on wet tarmac, warm sun on a glass façade. No car is involved unless it rains.
