Why here

Why choose Solo travel photoshoot in Bali?

People travelling alone rarely stay in one place. The usual loop is a few nights in Canggu, a few in Ubud, maybe the Bukit for surf and a hop to Nusa Penida or the Gilis — so the question is which stop gets the photographs. Each tells a different story about the trip. Canggu is the scooter-and-café version: surfboards, rice lanes behind the coworking spaces, a black-sand sunset. Ubud is the slower one: a ridge walk at dawn, carved gateways, a yoga-retreat terrace. Uluwatu is wind, cliffs and surf breaks seen from above. Nusa Penida is the postcard, with the logistics that come with it. Choose the version of the trip you want to remember, then book it early in that stop, so you meet the photographer somewhere you already know your way around.

How the shoot is planned

What does the shoot in Bali look like?

01

The route

In Ubud the plan is a morning walk rather than a shoot: we meet at a café or your guesthouse around sunrise, take the Campuhan ridge or the field paths above Penestanan, and the photographer directs as you go — a pause at a gate, a look back over the valley, coffee on a warung step at the end. In Canggu it runs the other way: we start in the rice lanes in late-afternoon light, walk through to Batu Bolong or Pererenan, and finish on the beach as the surfers come in. On the Bukit, the half hour usually goes to one clifftop at sunset, because the coves below mean long stairs that eat time. Nusa Penida is possible with the island transfer add-on ($90) plus your own boat ticket; it suits people who are going anyway and want one strong frame at Kelingking or Diamond Beach, not a relaxed session.

02

The timing

Book the shoot in the first day or two at the stop you choose. You will know the neighbourhood, the photographer can adjust if a morning is rained out, and the gallery arrives in 48–72 hours — before you move on and while there is still time for a second session if you want one. Sunrise suits Ubud, sunset suits Canggu and the Bukit, and both are at roughly the same hour all year. In the wet season, November to March, pick a morning slot wherever you are. In July and August the famous spots are busiest, so a solo session in a quieter field or a lesser-known beach usually gives cleaner frames than a queue.

FAQ — Solo travel photoshoot in Bali

I am doing Canggu, Ubud and the Gilis. Which stop should I shoot in?

If you want one session, Ubud usually gives the most varied gallery in half an hour: fields, palms, stone gateways and soft morning light within a short walk. Canggu is the better choice if your trip is about surf and sunsets. The Gilis are lovely but need the island transfer add-on and your own boat crossing, so they make sense mainly if you are staying there several nights.

Can we meet at my hostel or coworking space?

Yes. Any public place you are comfortable with works — a café, a hostel lobby, the entrance to a beach. The route is agreed in writing beforehand, so you can share it with someone at home, and we stay in public places throughout. In Canggu the café you work from can even be the first few frames before we walk to the beach.

Is a sunrise start safe if I am on my own?

Yes — Bali mornings are busy with locals heading to markets and temples, and the places we use at sunrise are public. Use a ride-hailing app or your guesthouse driver to reach the meeting point; we can also start at your accommodation and walk from there. You get the photographer’s name and WhatsApp number before the day.

Does the price change if I am staying in a different area?

No: it is $140 for 30 minutes with travel inside the area you book included, whether that is Canggu, Ubud or the Bukit. It changes only if you want a spot far from your base, such as a highland temple, which is quoted before you confirm, or an island such as Nusa Penida, which adds the $90 transfer plus your own boat ticket.
