We mic you both and the celebrant, test levels against the wind and the surf, and set one camera wide on a tripod so the whole ceremony is covered even when the handheld camera moves. Then the processional: the walk down the aisle filmed from the front, the reaction of the person waiting filmed from the side. During the vows the handheld camera stays close on faces while the wide holds the bay and the guests; the rings, the kiss and the recessional follow. In the minutes straight after, while guests congratulate you, we film the two of you a short way off — a walk to the edge of the lawn, the view, a quiet word. With extra hours we add preparations, speeches and the first dance, and the film grows accordingly. ## Timing Set the ceremony to finish about twenty minutes before sunset, which on Lombok falls roughly between 5.50 and 6.30 pm depending on the month; Maghrib follows shortly after sunset and can last several minutes across the bays. That timing also puts the couple footage in the best light. Wind matters more for a film than for photographs: on the south coast it usually eases towards evening, but in July and August the trade wind can still be strong at 5 pm, so a sheltered lawn or a villa terrace beats an exposed ridge. In the wet season a morning ceremony gives calmer air and a cleaner soundtrack.
