## In short

Hotel and villa photography in Labuan Bajo costs from $290 for 30 minutes — the key rooms in daylight and the pool or terrace with the bay view — with 15+ edited photos, blended so windows show the sea, and a licence for listings, your website and social media, delivered in 48–72 hours. Twilight exteriors need extra hours.

Labuan Bajo is not a private-villa market in the way Bali is, and it would be misleading to pretend otherwise. What it has is a fast-growing stock of hotels, guesthouses, dive lodges and a few villas on the hills north and south of town, most of them selling one thing above all: the view west over the bay and the islands. That is what a listing photographer has to capture here, and it is harder than it looks — a window full of bright sea and sky next to a dim room is exactly where phone photos fail. Our package covers the core of a listing in thirty minutes: the key rooms in daylight with blended exposures so the view stays visible, and the pool or terrace with the bay behind. Full sets and the twilight exterior, with the harbour lights below, come with extra hours.

## How the shoot is planned

We start with a walk-through and the shot list agreed beforehand, and confirm which room has the best view — that room is photographed first and most carefully. Each interior is shot from a corner at standing-chest height, bracketed so the bay through the window and the shadows inside can be blended into one natural frame; we open curtains, switch on bedside lamps and straighten the linen as we go. Then the bathroom, if it has a window or an outdoor shower, because guests ask about them here. The last ten minutes belong to the pool or terrace: a low frame across the water with the islands behind, and a wider one that shows how the property sits on the hillside. With extra hours we cover the remaining rooms, the restaurant and common areas, and stay for the twenty minutes after sunset, when the sky over the bay goes deep blue, the pool lights glow and the harbour below lights up.

## Timing

Most properties here look west, which shapes the schedule. A west-facing view is front-lit and clear in the morning, when the sea is blue and the islands sharp; in the afternoon the same view is backlit and hazy until the sunset itself. So we usually shoot the rooms and the pool between about 8 and 11 am, and come back for twilight if you have added hours — around 6–6:30 pm, depending on the month. East-facing or garden properties are the reverse. For the season, the dry months give reliable skies; from July the hills behind turn brown, while April to June and the wet months keep them green, which many hotels prefer for listing photos. In December to March we hold a second date in case an afternoon storm takes the twilight.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you photograph our phinisi for a cruise listing?

Yes — a liveaboard sells its cabins much like hotel rooms, and the same package covers the cabins, saloon and deck while moored, with blended exposures for the small portholes and dark interiors. Sails are only raised at sea, so a sailing exterior needs the boat to go out and the photographer to follow on a second boat, which we quote separately.

### Our property is in Waecicu or Golo Mori. Is travel extra?

No. Both are inside the area we cover from Labuan Bajo, along with the town, Pede and Batu Cermin, and travel there is included. A property on an island in the bay is different: the boat transfer is quoted before the day.

### Can you add aerial photos of the hotel?

Yes, with the drone add-on at $150, or book the Property drone shoot if you also need a video. Komodo Airport sits on the edge of town, and properties close to it may fall inside restricted airspace; send us your map pin and we check before confirming.

### How do we prepare a hillside property with water and power quirks?

Fill and clean the pool the day before, so it is brimming and clear, and make sure every lamp and pool light works — a dark bulb shows in twilight frames. If outages are common in your area, have the generator ready for the shoot window. Then the usual: crisp white linen, clear surfaces, staff and scooters out of sight.
