A typical Kuta session: down to Seger beach, where the sand is coarse and golden and the reef keeps the water quiet, first a few relaxed walking frames to get you used to the camera, then the low headland at the eastern end for height without a real climb. In Senggigi the order reverses — we start on the sand among the fishing boats while the sun is still above the strait, and finish with silhouettes against the orange water. If you would rather stay home, a hotel garden or pool deck counts as the location too; ask the front desk first, since some resorts want to know in advance. An extra hour ($100) adds a second backdrop, and a 15–30 second reel ($110) can be filmed between frames. ## Timing Book by where your hotel faces. South-coast bays look their best from about 6 to 7.30 am, when the water is glassy and the beach is empty, or in the last hour before sunset, around 5 to 6 pm. Senggigi is an evening coast only — its mornings are flat and grey-blue because the sun rises behind the island. In the dry season, April to October, any of these is safe; from November to March, afternoon storms build over the hills, so south-coast guests do better with sunrise. Can we still book? Yes, but tell us the hotel name first. The $130 price includes travel within the area booked, and Sekotong, Senaru or the north-west coast are separate areas from Kuta, each one to two and a half hours away. We confirm the plan and anything extra before you pay, so nothing changes on the day. ### What happens if it rains on our only free evening? We move the session to the next sunrise or another evening at no charge. If you are leaving the island, a covered terrace or the hotel lobby works for twenty minutes of relaxed portraits, and wet-season storms on Lombok often pass within an hour, leaving a dramatic sky.
