## In short

A Reels and TikTok shoot in Bali costs from $220 for 30 minutes of filming, edited into three vertical reels of 15–30 seconds within 5–7 days. Pick the area by motion: Canggu for surf and scooters, Ubud for mist and water, the Bukit for swell and wind. All three come from one area and one light window.

Video rewards movement, and each part of Bali moves in its own way, which is a better guide to where to film than which spot is most famous. Canggu moves fast: surfers in the shore break at Batu Bolong, scooters through the paddy lanes, a café crowd at golden hour — natural for quick-cut lifestyle reels. Ubud moves slowly: mist drifting off terraces, water falling, palms in still air — suited to calm, cinematic pacing and sound-on clips. The Bukit moves big: swell lines rolling in below the cliffs, wind in hair and fabric, a sunset dropping into the sea. Nusa Penida gives instant recognition, but the viewpoints are crowded and you share every angle. Three reels from one session work best when they are three ideas in one area, filmed in one window of light.

## How the shoot is planned

The concept for each reel is agreed beforehand, so the 30 minutes are a filming plan, not a walk. In Canggu a typical session films a café opener with a transition out of the door, a scooter or walking sequence through a paddy lane, and the beach at Batu Bolong as the sun drops — three reels, three backdrops, all within a few minutes of each other. In Ubud it starts at sunrise: a terrace path with mist for one reel, a gateway or jungle stair for a second, a coffee-and-view sequence on a villa deck for the third. On the Bukit it runs at sunset: a clifftop with the wind for one, a beach staircase reveal for another, the waterline in the last light for the third. With an extra hour ($100) there is room for a second area nearby or for outfit changes between reels.

## Timing

Film in soft light at either end of the day: the Bukit and Canggu at sunset, Ubud at sunrise, when the mist moves and the paths are empty. Midday light flattens everything and fills every frame with other people. Sound matters too: the Bukit is windy, which is fine for music-led reels and difficult for talking to camera, while Ubud mornings are quiet enough for spoken clips. In the dry season the swell and wind on the south coast are at their biggest, great for motion. In the wet season, November to March, mornings are clearer everywhere, and a storm-washed sky over the ocean makes a strong closing shot.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can each of the three reels be in a different area of Bali?

Not in one 30-minute session — the drives between areas take an hour or more each, and the light would be gone. Three reels in three settings within one area work well. If you want Ubud and the coast in your content, book two shoots on two days; each gives you three reels.

### Is Nusa Penida worth it for reels?

If recognisable views are your strategy, maybe — but you will be filming among queues, and many viewers have seen the same angles. It adds the $90 island transfer for the videographer plus your boat tickets. Many creators get more distinctive footage from the Bukit cliffs, which have similar drama without the crossing.

### Can we include drone shots in the reels?

Not within the reels booking itself: aerial footage is the separate drone video service, flown by a licensed pilot where the airspace allows. Booked together on the same evening, the aerial clips can be cut into your reels. The Bukit cliffs and Canggu’s fields are usually flyable; areas near the airport are not.

### Which area is best for talking-to-camera reels?

Ubud in the early morning, or a café or villa corner in Canggu or Seminyak. Clifftops and surf beaches look great but bring wind and wave noise that a small microphone struggles with. If speaking is central to your content, tell us beforehand and we plan a sheltered spot for those clips and use the windy places for B-roll.
