## In short

A property drone shoot in Yogyakarta costs from $390 for 30 minutes on site. You receive 15+ edited aerial photos in 48–72 hours and a 30–60 second aerial video in 5–7 days, including context frames of the town, fields or volcano nearby. A licensed pilot checks your address against airfield and heritage restrictions before you pay.

In Yogyakarta, what a property’s aerials have to prove depends on what it is. A guesthouse in Prawirotaman sells walking distance — to the palace, to Malioboro, to the cafés — and only from above can you see how close they really are. A villa or homestay on the road up to Kaliurang in Sleman sells Merapi on the skyline and cool air. A resort in the Menoreh hills sells the view across the plain to Borobudur, and a plot of land sells its shape, access and the rice fields around it. Ground photos cannot show any of this. The catch is that Yogyakarta’s airspace is more complicated than it looks: the Adisutjipto airfield on the east side of the city, the airport at Kulon Progo on the coast, the Kraton, and the protected zones around the great temples. So every booking starts with your address on the pilot’s map.

## How the shoot is planned

Before the day you send the address or map pin, the plot boundaries if it is land, and the one thing the listing must prove: walking distance, the volcano view, the size of the grounds. The pilot checks the location and tells you plainly whether, and how high, we can fly. On site we start with a ground walk for wires, tall trees, neighbours’ roofs and wind. The flight begins close: the property straight down to show the roof, courtyard and pool, then a slow pass over the gate. Then it climbs for context — for a city guesthouse, a frame that links the roof to the palace walls or Malioboro, kept within the permitted height; for a Sleman villa, a rise that brings Merapi up over the rooftop; for land, a top-down that shows the boundary against the paddies and the access road. The video is flown in the same session.

## Timing

For anything that sells Merapi, fly in the first two hours after sunrise, around 5.30 to 7.30 am: the volcano is usually clear and the air calm, and by mid-morning cloud covers the summit. City properties look best in late-afternoon light, which warms the tiled roofs and throws shadows that give the streets depth. The dry season, April to October, has the most flyable days and the cleanest views; from November to March, plan for mornings and keep a second date, since drones do not fly in rain and the afternoon storms are reliable. Avoid Friday midday near mosques and any day with a ceremony at the Kraton or a nearby temple.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you fly over a property in central Yogyakarta?

Often, at limited height. Parts of the city fall within the safety zones of the Adisutjipto airfield, which is also an air force base, and the Kraton area is sensitive. Some addresses can be flown low; some cannot. The pilot checks your exact location against current rules, and if a site is not flyable we tell you before you pay.

### Our property is near Borobudur. Can the temple be in the shot?

Possibly, from a distance. We cannot fly over or close to the temple, which sits in a protected zone, but from a property in the hills a few kilometres away the drone may be able to rise above your roof and show the temple on the plain behind. Whether that works depends on your exact location, which the pilot checks first.

### Do you shoot land plots as well as buildings?

Yes. For land, the useful frames are a straight-down view with the boundary clear, the access road, and wider shots showing what surrounds it — rice fields, a river, the nearest village or main road. Send us the boundary points or a sketch beforehand. We do not mark legal boundaries; the frames show the plot as you describe it.

### Can we combine this with interior photos?

Yes, by booking hotel and villa photography alongside it; the two crews can work the same day, with the drone outside while interiors are shot. Drone sessions do not take the extra-hour add-on, so a large property or several buildings are quoted as separate sessions.
