## A wedding for two, photographed properly

Elopement photography in Bali is 30 minutes of coverage, from $890, with 15+ edited photos delivered within two to three weeks and a preview within 48 hours. Half an hour covers the heart of a small wedding: the ceremony and vows, then portraits of the two of you straight after, timed for the golden hour. Getting ready, a toast or a first dance can be added with extra hours at $100 each. With no guest list to manage, the day can be built entirely around light and place, and the photographer can follow you somewhere a hundred guests could never go.

The Bukit Peninsula is the natural setting: clifftop venues and private villas above the ocean at Uluwatu, or a quiet beach such as Nyang Nyang or Bingin below the cliffs. Ubud offers jungle villas, rice terraces and river valleys for a greener mood, and Nusa Penida adds dramatic cliffs for couples ready for an early boat. Legally marrying in Indonesia as foreigners involves a religious ceremony, civil registration and paperwork, so many couples sign at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in Bali. Celebrant, venue and decoration are booked separately.

The timeline is built backwards from sunset, which in Bali comes around six all year: vows about an hour before, portraits as the light softens. In the wet season, November to March, keep a covered plan B or move the ceremony earlier; avoid Nyepi, the Day of Silence, when the whole island shuts down. Within 48 hours of the wedding you receive a preview to share with family; the full gallery of 15+ edited photos follows within two to three weeks. A wedding film or drone frames can be added to the same day.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is an elopement in Bali legally binding?

Only if you go through the Indonesian process, which for foreigners means a religious ceremony followed by civil registration, with translated and legalised documents. It takes weeks of paperwork, so most couples marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in Bali with a celebrant. The photographs are the same either way; a celebrant or wedding planner can confirm what applies to your nationalities.

### Where can we hold the ceremony?

A villa with a view is the simplest: you control the space and the hour. Cliff-top venues in Uluwatu rent ceremony spots by the slot and charge a venue fee. Public beaches and rice fields are possible for a very small ceremony, but you will not have them to yourselves, and some landowners ask for a contribution. Temples are not wedding venues for non-Hindu ceremonies.
