## In short

A destination wedding photographer in Bali costs from $1,690 for 30 minutes and 15+ edited photos, with a preview in 48 hours and the full gallery in 2–3 weeks; the full day is extra hours at $100 each. Uluwatu gives sunset ceremonies, Jimbaran and Nusa Dua big resorts near the airport, Ubud jungle. Venue fees are separate.

By the time couples talk to a photographer they have usually fallen for a venue, but the area it sits in shapes the photographs as much as the venue does. Uluwatu’s clifftops put the ceremony in front of a sunset over open ocean. Jimbaran and Nusa Dua resorts have space for big guest lists and are close to the airport, but they sit inside its restricted airspace, so aerial shots are usually off the table; Nusa Dua also faces east, so its evening light falls behind the buildings. Seminyak and Canggu villas suit a relaxed party for friends with the beach a short walk away. Ubud venues trade the ocean for river valleys and jungle, with more rain and earlier dusk under the trees. Thinking about light, drone access and guest travel before signing a venue saves compromises on the day.

## How the shoot is planned

A full day booked with extra hours runs to the same skeleton everywhere — details, getting ready, first look, ceremony, family groups, couple portraits, reception — but the area moves the pieces. On the Bukit the ceremony sits about an hour before sunset and portraits take the cliff edge in the last light while guests have drinks. At a Nusa Dua resort, where the beach faces east, the strongest portrait light is often in the gardens or on the west side of the grounds, so we scout it the day before. In Seminyak or Canggu the couple can slip out to the beach for twenty minutes at sunset and be back before dinner is served. In Ubud the ceremony is better earlier in the afternoon, because the valley falls into shade well before the coast does, and portraits happen on a ridge or terrace with the last light still on it. Guests drive accordingly: Jimbaran is closest to the airport, Ubud the furthest.

## Timing

Sunset is around six all year, so ceremony times barely change by month; what changes is risk. From April to October, every area is reliable and the Bukit venues are in highest demand, often booked a year ahead for July to September. From November to March, the Bukit stays drier than the rest of the island, while Ubud weddings need a morning or early-afternoon ceremony and a covered plan B. The south coast is busiest in July, August and over Christmas, which affects guest transfers along the main roads more than the photographs. Check the date against Nyepi, when the airport closes, and against major village ceremonies near your venue.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can we have drone shots at a Jimbaran or Nusa Dua venue?

Usually not. Both areas lie within the restricted airspace around Ngurah Rai airport, and we do not fly there, whatever the venue says. If aerial footage matters, Uluwatu, Canggu and Ubud venues are generally outside the zone, subject to the venue’s own rules. Send us the address before you sign, and we check it.

### Is an Ubud wedding riskier for weather than Uluwatu?

Somewhat. Ubud is wetter all year and sees near-daily afternoon showers from November to March, while the Bukit is the driest part of Bali. That does not rule Ubud out: an earlier ceremony, a venue with a good covered space and a flexible portrait slot handle most days, and rain-washed jungle photographs beautifully.

### Our guests are spread between Seminyak and Uluwatu. Does it matter?

For the photographs, only in timing. The drive between the two can take an hour or more in evening traffic, so guests should set off early enough to be seated before the processional. Ask your planner to arrange shared transfers; a late bus during the vows is the one thing a photographer cannot fix.

### Can you also shoot our pre-wedding in another part of the island?

Yes, and it is a good way to get a second landscape into your wedding story: Ubud terraces or the highlands for the pre-wedding, the coast for the wedding day. It is a separate booking from $590, best two or three days before the wedding, so you are rested and the 7-day delivery lands soon after.
