## In short

A couple video in Ubud costs from $390 for 30 minutes of filming and gives you a 60–90 second edited film plus a 30-second vertical teaser, with licensed music and colour grading, delivered in 5–7 days. We film on quiet terraces such as Keliki in the last light; a second location is an extra hour at $100.

What a couple film in Ubud has that one on the coast rarely gets is silence. On a cliff the wind and surf take over the soundtrack; on a terrace in the hills north of town, at the end of the day, you hear frogs, water trickling between paddies and each other. That makes Ubud the place to put your own voices in the film — a few lines from letters you wrote each other, or a conversation recorded on small microphones while you walk — and have them come through clearly over the pictures. We usually film on the terraces around Keliki, which have the stepped green of Tegallalang without its crowds, so the camera can move freely and the two of you never have to wait for a path to clear.

## How the shoot is planned

We meet at the edge of the terraces about fifty minutes before sunset and clip the microphones on first, so you are used to them before anything important is said. The opening shots are slow and wide: the two of you walking down a terrace path, small in the frame, with the valley behind. Then we come closer. You stop on a dyke, read your letters or simply talk, and the videographer circles on a gimbal while the audio runs uninterrupted. The middle of the film is movement — running down steps, spinning in the last sun, your hands in the water of an irrigation channel — and the ending is the light going behind the ridge, with the two of you in silhouette. The vertical teaser is cut from the same footage, built for a phone screen from the start rather than cropped afterwards.

## Timing

The last hour before sunset is the slot for this film: the terraces are empty, the light comes across the valley at a low angle, and the evening sounds start. Sunrise is the alternative, with mist but more birdsong than silence, and better suited to films without voices. From April to October evenings in the hills are usually dry. From November to March, afternoon storms often arrive around three or four and may clear just in time for a wet, glowing sunset — we watch the radar with you and decide on the day. Keliki is about twenty to thirty minutes north of central Ubud, within the area.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do we have to say anything on camera?

No. Many couples prefer a film made only of music and natural sound. But if you have ever wanted your voices in it, Ubud is the place: the quiet makes even whispered lines usable. Write each other a short letter beforehand and read it on location, or just talk while walking; we pick the few lines that carry the film.

### Can we have a photographer at the same time?

Yes — book the couple photoshoot alongside, and a photographer and a videographer work together. On the terraces that works well because there is room for both, and the session stays the same length. One person trying to do both gives weaker photos and weaker video, so we do not offer it as one service.

### What should we wear for a film among the rice fields?

Fabrics that move: a long dress or skirt, a loose linen shirt. Movement is what video records best. Choose colours that contrast with green and with each other without clashing — cream and terracotta, white and soft blue. Avoid fine stripes and tight checks, which flicker on video, and bring flat shoes for the paths.

### Can we add aerial shots to the film?

Yes, by booking the Drone video alongside, flown by a licensed pilot during the same session. The terraces around Keliki are well outside the airport’s restricted airspace, and a slow rise from the two of you to the whole valley makes a strong opening. We keep the drone away from temples and from farmers working nearby.
