## In short

A couple video at Mount Bromo costs from $390 for 30 minutes of filming at one location — usually the sunrise on the caldera rim — delivered in 5–7 days as a 60–90 second film and a 30-second vertical teaser, with licensed music. Park entry and the jeep are extra; an extra hour at $100 adds the sea of sand.

Photographs of Bromo show what it looked like; a film shows what it was like to be there. The thing people remember is not one view but a change: standing in the dark and the cold, unable to see anything, and then watching the caldera fill with colour as the cone, Batok and Semeru come out of the night one after another. That transition is what a couple video at Bromo is built around. Thirty minutes of filming is exactly the length of a sunrise, from first blue to the sun clearing the ridge, and the edit follows it — your breath in the cold air, a hand pulling a coat closer, the first light catching your faces, the steam turning gold. The sound carries it as much as the picture: wind, distant voices, the hum of the crowd going quiet. The result is a 60–90 second film and a 30-second vertical teaser to post the same week.

## How the shoot is planned

The film starts before the sunrise does. We pick you up by jeep in Cemoro Lawang and film the drive in the dark — headlights on the road, your faces lit by a phone screen, the jeep convoy winding up the ridge — as the opening. At King Kong Hill, or a quieter point along the rim, we set up on the edge with the volcanoes ahead and you between them and the camera. The first minutes are in blue light: wide, slow, almost still, with the cloud in the caldera barely visible. As the colour comes we move closer — hands, profiles, a kiss under a shared blanket — and use a long lens to stack Semeru behind you. The sun breaking over the eastern ridge is the climax: backlight, steam lit gold, the two of you turning towards it. With an extra hour ($100), the story continues down into the caldera for an ending on the sea of sand: the jeep driving away across the ash, the two of you walking towards the cone.

## Timing

Filming runs from about 4:50 to 5:50 Java time, which means a 3:30 jeep departure. The film relies on a visible sunrise, so the dry season from May to October is strongly preferred; July and August bring the clearest dawns and the sea of cloud in the caldera, at the price of near-freezing cold. From November to April the rim is often in fog, and a cloudy sunrise gives a softer, more muted film — beautiful in its own way, but not the transition story — so keep a spare morning. Weekdays matter more for video than for photos, because a crowd is hard to hide when the camera is moving.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can we add drone footage to the film?

The drone add-on comes with photo sessions only, so aerials need a separate drone video booking, and the park’s drone permit has to be arranged in advance, with its fee passed on at cost. The drone also does not fly over the crowded viewpoints at sunrise, so aerials work best for the sea-of-sand ending.

### Will the crowd on the viewpoint be in the film?

As little as possible. We choose a quieter part of the rim, frame with the caldera rather than the terrace behind you, and use a long lens that isolates the two of you. The sound of the crowd can stay as atmosphere — that murmur going quiet as the sun appears is part of what Bromo feels like.

### Can we speak or read something to each other on camera?

Yes — a few words, a letter, a promise. We record it with a separate microphone in a sheltered moment before the light peaks, and lay it over the sunrise in the edit. Tell us when you book so we bring the right audio kit; wind on the rim makes clean on-the-spot sound difficult otherwise.

### Can one person take photos while another films?

Yes, by booking a couple photoshoot alongside the video; the two work side by side and agree positions so they stay out of each other’s frame. At Bromo that pairing makes sense, since the sunrise happens only once and both the stills and the film draw on the same twenty minutes of light.
