## How the shoot is planned

We arrive at Mawun about fifty minutes before sunset and start on the slope at the western end, filming you walking down towards the bay — the establishing shot that opens the film. On the sand we slow down: a few minutes of you two simply talking, filmed on a long lens from a distance so you forget the camera, and a lavalier or close recorder catching a line or a laugh if you want words in the film. Then movement — a run into the shallows, a spin, a carry — filmed from low angles with the bay behind. The final minutes are for the light: silhouettes against the western headland, hands, a slow walk away along the waterline. The editor builds the story from this, and cuts the vertical teaser from the strongest moments.

## Timing

Mawun faces south-west, so the late afternoon sun slides down over the western headland and the bay goes gold and then pink; the last fifty minutes before sunset, roughly 5.10 to 6 pm, give us both. The dry season, April to October, is the most reliable, and the bay stays sheltered even when the trade wind is strong elsewhere. In the wet season the afternoon can end in rain; morning filming at sunrise, when the bay is glassy and empty, is a beautiful alternative with cooler colours. The evening call to prayer from the nearby village sometimes carries over the bay at sunset — lovely in a film if you want it, and easy to cut under music if you do not.

### Can we have aerial shots in our film?

The couple video is filmed from the ground. If you want aerials, book drone video ($320) for the same evening; it delivers its own 60–90 second aerial edit and the raw 4K clips. Check airspace with us first, since parts of the south coast are close to Lombok airport.

### Will our voices be in the film?

Only if you want them. Most couple films are cut to licensed music with a few ambient sounds. If you would like a spoken line — a promise, a private joke — tell us beforehand, and we record it close and away from the wind.

### Can we film at Merese Hill instead?

Yes, with two caveats: the ridge is very windy, which limits usable sound and moves hair constantly, and at sunset it is busy. If Merese is the dream, we film there at sunrise and keep the film music-led. The extra-hour add-on ($100) lets us do Merese and a sheltered bay in one session.

### What should we wear for a video, as opposed to photos?

Fabrics that move — a long skirt, a loose linen shirt — and avoid fine stripes or tight checks, which shimmer on video. Plain mid-tones look best against Lombok’s blue water and green or gold hills. Hair and make-up ($90) is worth it if you will be close to camera in the wind.
