## In short

A couple video in Bali costs from $390 for 30 minutes of filming, delivered in 5–7 days as a 60–90 second film plus a 30-second vertical teaser. Choose by mood and sound: Uluwatu for ocean and wind at sunset, Ubud for water and mist at sunrise, Canggu for surf and scooters. A second spot is an extra hour.

A photograph only has to look right; a film also has to sound and move right, and that is where Bali’s areas really differ. The Bukit gives scale — surf below the cliffs, wind lifting a dress, a sunset that keeps colouring the sky — but the wind is loud, so voices need lapel microphones and some sheltered moments. Ubud gives intimacy: the sound of water, birds and insects, mist moving across the terraces, close frames under the canopy. Canggu gives energy: waves on black sand, a scooter ride through the paddy lanes, the hum of the beach at golden hour. Nusa Penida gives the most dramatic aerial-style landscapes from the ground, along with crowds and a boat. For a 60–90 second film, one area with its own soundscape usually makes a stronger story than three places joined by jump cuts.

## How the shoot is planned

On the Bukit the film is shot in the hour before sunset. It opens with wide frames of the two of you small against the cliffs and the ocean, moves to a beach with road access such as Melasti for movement at the waterline, and closes with silhouettes as the sun goes down; if you want your voices in it, we record a few lines in a sheltered spot before the wind picks up. In Ubud it starts at first light: a walk along a terrace path in the mist, close frames by moving water, a quiet exchange on a villa terrace recorded with lapel microphones. In Canggu it is late afternoon: a scooter ride through a paddy lane, the walk to the beach, the two of you running into the shore break at Pererenan or Batu Bolong. With an extra hour ($100) any of these gains a second location nearby; two areas means two sessions on two days.

## Timing

Film where the light is soft and the place is quiet: the Bukit and Canggu at sunset, Ubud at sunrise. In the dry season, April to October, south-coast evenings are reliable, but trade winds are strong on the cliffs, which looks wonderful in fabric and hair and means more care with audio. In the wet season, November to March, mornings are the safe slot island-wide; Ubud’s afternoons are often rainy, though a post-storm sky over the ocean can make the best closing shot of the year. If you are also booking a couple photoshoot, a photographer and videographer work the same window together, so you do not repeat every moment twice.

## Frequently asked questions

### Will the wind on the Uluwatu cliffs ruin the sound?

Not if it is planned for. Most couple films are built on music, so wind does not matter for the visuals. For spoken lines we use lapel microphones with wind covers and record them in a sheltered corner — behind a wall, a few steps down a beach staircase — then lay them over the cliff footage in the edit.

### We are in Ubud and want the ocean in our film. Is the drive worth it?

It is about one and a half to two hours to the Bukit, so plan it as an afternoon out with dinner on the coast, not a quick trip. Or keep the film in Ubud and let water carry the sound — a river gorge or waterfall gives movement the way surf does. Many couples prefer the Ubud version because it feels more personal.

### Can we add aerial shots to our couple film?

Yes, by booking the drone video service for the same session; a licensed pilot flies while the videographer films on the ground, and the edit combines both. It depends on the area: the Bukit cliffs, Canggu fields and Ubud terraces are usually fine, while Jimbaran, Nusa Dua and spots near temples are not.

### Is Nusa Penida a good place for a couple video?

Visually, yes; practically, it is harder. The viewpoints are fenced and busy, so wide shots often include other visitors, and the day depends on boats from Sanur. It adds the $90 island transfer for the videographer plus your tickets. If you are staying on the island, an early session on the quieter east coast works much better than a day trip.
